I tried Stitch Fix and this is what happened... | JustUnderPetite

1. Fun2Fun ($44) 2. Jella C ($36)  3. Skies are Blue ($44)
4. Lila Ryan ($88) 5. Remolo ($34)

Isn't it everyone's dream to have a personal stylist who can make any outfit look so effortlessly on you? Well Stitch Fix is exactly that, minus the part where you have to meet your stylist in person and physically go shopping with them. Stitch Fix is a clothing subscription box where you fill out a questionnaire and your stylist picks out 5 items for you to try on. You can choose whether you want a weekly box, monthly, or you can even choose specifics days you want your box to arrive. There is a styling fee you pay for every box you receive which is $20 and you can use that fee towards any item(s) you choose to keep. If you keep all 5 items then you receive 25% off your entire order.

For my Fix, I received 3 shirts, a pair of pants and a necklace. Let's talk about the fit/sizing, the shirts were overall a bit too big on me since they run big. I had marked down a size small for shirts and a size 4 for pants. In my questionnaire I did mention that I am not comfortable with showing my arms and so I was really disappointed to see 2/3 shirts were sleeveless. I did however end up keeping the Fun 2 Fun shirt since they do offer free exchanges so I ended up exchanging the shirt for a size extra small. I was a bit disappointed with the pants since they were a light pink color that was completely out of my comfort zone and the fit was rather bigger than normal. I was inclined to keep and exchange the pants for a size 2 but the price point was $88 and I felt as though I could buy a pair at H&M or T.J.Maxx for around $20.

My overall take on this specific box was rather disappointing. I did like all the shirts, the pants looked good and the necklace felt so expensive and look stunning on. I feel as though if the pants fitted well and the shirts werent sleeveless then I might have kept all of the items and would have only paid $168 for all 5 items. I am however giving Stitch Fix another chance and am very excited to see what I receive in my next Fix. If you would like to see my first impressions on these items and more pictures on how they fit then definitely check out my YouTube video where I show you my honest first impressions.

Coppelia | Cuban & Latin Cuisine

Welcome back! Today's post is dedicated to this Cuban/Latin Food Luncheonette located in the West Village of New York. It was my first time trying out Cuban food and what better way than to eat at a place owned by celebrity chef Julian Medina! Hope you enjoy this yummy post!

A twist to the basic "chips and guac" was highly appreciated since this not only came with regular tortilla chips, but rather with fried plantain chips that quickly melted in my mouth. I am the lucky girl that had the guac and the plantain chips all to myself since Daniel is neither a fan of guac nor plantains. The guac here did have a bit of a spicy kick to it which was unexpected and a bit offsetting at first but I did get used to it after a couple of tastes. If Daniel and I do order an appetizer it is almost always chips and salsa, so this was definitely a special treat for me at only $7.95.

Onto my favorite part of the meal!!! Whenever I do go out to eat, I usually stick to either Vegetarian dishes or Seafood dishes. It is rarely that I ever get a dish with chicken or red meat. On this occasion however, I decided that I would go in for a "Pollo" Sandwich that consisted of grilled chicken, tomato, guacamole, and chipotle mayo. I am not sure whether this tasted like everything I have ever dreamed of because I was starving or because it was actually damn good. I of course opted out of mustard in my sandwich which I don't believe that it made a difference since this was packed with tons of flavor. My only complain would be the bread, it was a lot of bread for my type of sandwich so I found myself taking off the top part of the bread and eating it like an open faced sandwich.

As a special treat I decided to make this a "deluxe" sandwich by ordering a side of  Yuca fries instead of regular potato fries. This was my first time ever trying Yuca (Cassava) fries and I can happily say that I am now obsessed! This came with a side of chipotle mayo which gave the fries a little extra flavor. The Yuca fries were an extra $2.25 which I did not mind since the Sandwich was only $7.95.

In regards to the atmosphere, I did come here for dinner around 7:30 p.m. on a Wednesday night and this place was full. When we arrived there was a 40min wait so we decided to skip the wait and eat at the bar which was totally fine. Our server was polite and he let us take our time in ordering which we needed since it was our first time trying Cuban food. Unfortunately I was unable to order a glass of Sangria this time around so I cannot rate them on their drinks. This place is also opened 24hrs a day!

Current Makeup Routine | Natural & Flawless

Displaying IMG_4643.JPG

Lately I have been asked what makeup products I use on my face to give me that natural flawless look. My skin is by no means "perfect", I have acne prone skin, large pores and an oily T-zone. I have an everyday makeup routine that I use to achieve this "natural and  flawless" look and it starts with:

  1. L'oreal Youth Code Dark Spot Corrector Cream with SPF 30. I this as my base for my makeup since it contains a decent SPF count and it will help with acne scarring.
  2. Since I have an oily T-zone I go in with my Garnier Light Oil Control Fairness Cream in order to help my skin stay as matte as possible.
  3. For my rather large pores, I will go in with either the Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer or the E.L.F Poreless Face Primer.
  4. For concealer my current favorite is the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Light Medium and I will set it with the Wet N Wild Pressed Powder in Neutral Beige.
  5. For foundation I will either go with the Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Powder or the L.A. Girl Pro Coverage Foundation.
  6. For a subtle contour I will use the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder
  7. For a natural flush of color on my cheeks I will go in with either the L.A. Girl blush or the Tarte 12hr Amazonian Clay Blush
  8. Moving on to the eye area, I don't typically use bold colored eyeshadow. I tend to stick to the neutral colors. For mascara I will use either the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara or the Essence Lash Princess Effect Mascara.
  9. For my eyebrows I like to either use the ABH Brow Wiz or the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder.
  10. I don't normally wear lipstick on an everyday basis but when I do I tend to opt for a more mauve type of color like the one from Tarte or one from Wet N Wild.
  11. And last but certainly not least, I feel as though setting my makeup is the most important step in my makeup routine since it keeps my makeup from fading or sliding around. Currently I am using the Milani Make It Last Setting Spray.

So there you have it folks! My complete everyday makeup routine for a natural but flawless makeup look. Although it seems like I am using a lot of products or seems though this is time consuming, I usually spend around less than 15 minutes to do my makeup in the morning.

Till next time my beautiful people!!!

Brooklyn Botanic Garden | Casual Outfit

What a great escape from Manhattan right in Brooklyn. I had not been to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in years and decided to go this past weekend as it was Daniel's birthday. Being surrounded by so many flowers and open fields was exactly what we needed for a stress free weekend away from the city. Daniel and I both had a nice peaceful walk around the garden and we even witnessed a couple of wedding photo shoots that were taking place. I definitely was not dressed for a photo shoot but I did wear one of the most comfiest outfits I have ever worn! (outfit details at the end of this blog.)
Daniel and I embracing the green grass and beautiful flowers that surrounded us. For his birthday, Daniel only wished to get away from the city and be surrounded by nature. We decided to head to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden as it was the closest and a budget friendly escape from the city. For only $15 a person, you can experience the beauty of endless grass fields and flowers/plants from all over the world. My favorite place inside the garden was walking around the Bonsai tree collections and running around the open fields.

If you are ever wanting to escape from the city but are on a budget, I highly suggest a quick trip to Brooklyn. If you are a student, you can buy tickets for $8 if you show your student ID or you can get in for FREE on Tuesdays (all day) and Saturdays between 10 a.m. to noon. For more information you can visit their website HERE

Behold the most casual outfit you have ever seen me in! My sunglasses are from H&M, my burgundy top is a cold shoulder top from T.J. Maxx (similar one here), my sweater is an H&M sweater borrowed from my sister (HERE), my bag is an older style from Kenneth Cole, my leggings are from FOREVER 21, and my shoes are PUMAS from DSW.

The Sweet Shop

Displaying image2.JPG

This post is dedicated to all of my "sweet toothers" out there. The Sweet Shop is located on the Upper East Side and is considered the #1 candy and ice cream shop for that area. The Sweet Shop sells everything from vintage candy to artisanal ice cream. Selling ice cream from Van Leeuwan, this small shop is packed with tourists and locals on a daily basis. Daniel and I decided to grab dessert after our yummy Italian dinner.

Displaying image3.JPG

The Sweet Shop serves its ice cream in a tiny Chinese take out box. This to me was very intriguing and confusing at the same time. Eating ice cream out of this was hilarious since we were walking around the neighborhood and I definitely did get stares from other people wondering why I was eating ice cream out of a Chinese take out box with a silver spoon. Unfortunately since we had gone after dinner, they were all out of milkshakes and other ice cream flavors. We did take the opportunity to stock up on some good old fashioned pop rocks and Hi-Chews.

Displaying image1.JPG

Everyone at The Sweet Shop was very kind and definitely happy to be there. The owner did gift Daniel with a tiny vanilla ice cream cone with peanut butter chunks since they were out of milkshakes. Overall this place is definitely suited for those who want to reminisce on their childhood's favorite candy. My only suggestion and tip when visiting this place is to have self control because you will get sweet cravings from their never ending inventory. My other tip would be to listen to the owner or other workers for any recommendations they might have since they can do no wrong.
