The Martinique Cafe

Oh the places you'll go in NYC! Everywhere you go, you'll find yourself going someplace new to either grab a quick bite or take on a full meal. I love exploring different parts of the city and trying out new restaurants. I do occasionally stumble across places that I simply do not like and would never go again or I find new favorite spots that I would recommend and feature on here.

This week I am writing you from Midtown, a rather busy place during the weekends because of all the shopping stores around, especially Macy's Herald Square. Daniel and I had quiet a struggle trying to find a good brunch place at around 1:00 p.m. We were headed to Macy's Herald Square so decided to explore the Midtown neighborhood for places to eat and we stumbled across The Martinique Cafe located on 6th ave between 32nd and 33rd street.
Initially I had felt too under dressed as the place looked so well kept and looked like it would be place where people come dressed up for brunch. I received some comfort in seeing a couple of other people wearing casual clothing as well.

Since it was around 1:30 p.m. and this was my first meal of the day, I was rather hungrier than usual. I went for their "Broadway Omelette" which consisted of cheddar cheese, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, ham, home-style Potatoes and a couple pieces of strawberries and blueberries. Personally I really enjoyed my order and was happy that my plate was not so overly full since I usually force myself to eat every last bite on my place (which is not a good thing when you're already so stuffed). The only change I would make next time is opt out for the cheddar since I felt that it took away from the omelette and was a bit too much (which is a shocker since I am totally a cheese lover).

Daniel on the other hand ordered the "2 Eggs Any Style" that came with fries bacon or sausage, and a rather small side of fruit. Daniel was not a fan of their sausage and I wasn't either when I tried some of his so I was glad I had gone with my Omelette since I was debating on whether to get scrambled eggs. Because we had plans to go shopping afterwards I did not try any of their drinks.

I feel like this place can definitely be a place where you can have a 3-course meal with your friends and have a rather nice and relaxing conversation since they did have soft music playing at a low volume. The food did not take long to make and the staff were friendly when we arrived. It did take a bit longer for them to take our order even though the place was rather empty since it was 1:30 p.m. The prices here were very decent ranging from $12 - $19 for brunch.
My overall rating: 8/10
