Latin Social | Financial District

Everyone that knows me knows that I am a big foodie. I am always hungry! This is why I never say no to anyone who wants to try a new restaurant. A colleague of mine asked if I wanted to try out a new place that opened up around where we worked and I immediately said yes. Latin food is one of my favorite cuisines, so when my colleague mentioned there was a new Latin restaurant in the neighborhood (Financial District), I knew I had to check it out and give it my honest reviews. We decided to go to Latin Social on a weekday at noon.

My colleague and I decided to get to the restaurant early so that we would be able to get served faster.  As soon as we arrived we admired the decor of the place. When we arrived at exactly noon there was no one else there except for us. This was great for us because we were seated and served right away.

The hostess was very friendly and she was very attentive to us and made sure we were comfortable. It did not take us long to decide on what we wanted to order since the menu was only one page and I usually order anything with pork. Everything on the menu looked amazing and even though it was only noon I was starving just looking at all of the menu items.

I ordered the Pulled Pork Wrap (bottom left) and my colleague ordered the So-Cal Chicken Sandwich (bottom right). I can honestly say that I had never experienced a wrap like this one. Having sweet plantains inside my wrap tied everything together and was a new taste. Since I normally eat lunch around 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. I knew I would be hungry when that time came around I would be hungry again so I decided to not inhale my food for the first time and saved the other half for later.

The only thing I did not like was the side salad but that was more of a personal dislike and did not reflect on the actual taste of the side salad (since I ended up not trying it).

I think the prices for these items were reasonable considered the location of the restaurant. Next time I come here for lunch or dinner I will make sure that I try their Tres Leches cake since I was really eyeing that when I first saw the menu

My rating:
8/10
Pros: great food, not too noisy, decent prices, friendly staff, quick service
Cons: side salad (could use variation)
