Pasta Nights at Le Fanfare

Life has pastas by! I cannot believe it is already 2019, the start of a new year, new goals, and new memories in the making. Today's blog post is a review on a pasta place that I discovered in Brooklyn back in the fall. All pastas are handmade and packed with a lot of flavor. I tried gnocchi for the first time and discovered that I have yet to acquire a taste for it. This place is a mixture of rustic and romantic design and their menu is simple enough to understand. Everything is made fresh to order and the service is friendly.

This was the first time I had tried white bean dip and it was different than anything I had tried before. This was different from the traditional Italian bread and butter/olive oil that we are served at almost all Italian restaurants. The bread was light and fluffy and easy to bite on compared to other breads I am used to. I did however take out the onions on top of the bread since I felt like it overpowered the white bean dip.

My favorite pasta of the night was this Bershire pork sausage with marinara and pecorino. I am usually not a fan of sausage or red meats in my pasta but this was an exception since I decided to pass on the Potato Gnocchi I had originally ordered. This order was the perfect serving amount since it did not leave me hungry or overly full. At other places I had tried different kinds of sausage or meats in my pasta and I was never keen on them because it was either too salty to eat or the pieces of meat were cut too big. I would definitely try this again over and over because it was that good! The pecorino cheese on top also added a lot more flavor and everything blended well.

This was the first time I decided to try Gnocchi and I must admit, I did not give this a fair chance. I had a bite but did not like the different flavors it had. This had a kale pesto sauce and pieces of walnuts that I was honestly not a fan of. I think I would have liked this a lot better if it was made with a more traditional pesto recipe and omitted the walnuts. On the other hand, my friend loved this dish and so did not mind taking on this dish while I had the other one.

Overall I think this place is amazing if you are looking for homemade pasta and a cozy place for a date night. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their dinner and this place definitely did get more crowded later on in the night.

To kickoff the new year, Le Fanfare is offering three-off-the-menu pasta dishes every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for only $10!

My rating:
9/10
Pros: Handmade pasta, interior design, friendly staff, not too noisy
Cons: Not a big menu selection to choose from
